# Dimensions Feature
## Tagging your financial data so you can filter by extra dimensions
**Dimensions** serve as tags allowing you to tag every data point with one or more dimensions making it possible to filter your P&L reports, dashboards, employees and other custom data views by the selected dimension(s).
For example, your dashboard may show Departments and Divisions, but with the Dimensions feature switched on you'll be able to filter that view to display just the data tagged with a particular Dimension or combinations of Dimensions..
This feature is often used to filter by **Grants, Vendors, Customers, Projects, Activity Codes**, and others.
